The Uruguay international only made the bench for the weekend's 2-1 Premier League win over Chelsea, but he was prematurely brought on in the 30th minute as Diogo Jota left the pitch with an injury.
Arne Slot has admitted that Jota is unlikely to be available for the clash with Die Roten Bullen, so Nunez should be a straight swap in the final third and may be one of a few changes from the Reds coach.
Luis Diaz for Cody Gakpo is another possible alteration as Slot works around a hectic schedule, although Mohamed Salah - who equalled Thierry Henry's Premier League assist tally at the weekend - is a shoo-in on the opposite flank.
However, Dominik Szoboszlai is a candidate for the chop to ensure he is in tip-top condition for the Arsenal game, so Sunday's match-winner Curtis Jones may be deployed a bit further forward as Alexis Mac Allister returns alongside Ryan Gravenberch.
The Argentina international was a doubt for the Chelsea game, as was Trent Alexander-Arnold, but the right-back made it to the 81-minute mark before having to give up his place to Joe Gomez.
With Arsenal on the horizon, Slot may decide that Alexander-Arnold could do with a break in midweek, allowing Gomez to take up right-back duties. Kostas Tsimikas may very well come in for Andy Robertson on the left too.
Alisson Becker is still out with a hamstring injury, so Caoimhin Kelleher guards the sticks once more, most likely behind a settled pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.
Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Kelleher; Gomez, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Jones, Diaz; Nunez
