The hosts will head into the game seeking to get one over the Pigeons, having failed to win any of their last five meetings since a 2-1 victory back in 2015.
Match preview
Dallas were denied all three points by a resilient Houston Dynamo side as the spoils were shared in a thrilling 2-2 draw when the teams locked horns at the PNC Stadium on Sunday.
After Thorleifur Ulfarsson netted in the 69th minute to cancel out Matt Hedges's first-half strike, Jesus Ferreira struck what seemed to be the winner for the Burn in the 93rd minute, but 26-year-old defender Teenage Hadebe scored a dramatic leveller in the 11th minute of added time.
The draw marks the third time in four games that Dallas have dropped points from a winning position after their 2-2 draw with Austin FC on June 26 and a 1-1 draw with Inter Miami on July 5.
Nico Estevez's men have now failed to taste victory in five straight matches, picking up three points from a possible 15, while they have managed just one win in their last outings games since mid-May.
For all their recent struggles, Dallas are currently fourth in the Western Conference standings with 28 points from 19 games, 11 points adrift of first-placed Los Angeles FC.
On the other hand, New York City FC returned to winning ways in style as they brushed aside New England Revolution 4-2 on home turf last Saturday.
In a six-goal thriller at the Yankee Stadium, strikes from Talles Mango, Gabriel Pereira and a brace from Valentin Castellanos saw the Pigeons claim all three points with Gustavo Bou netting twice to half the deficit.
Prior to that, Nick Cushing's side were on a five-game winless run across all competitions, picking up three draws and losing two, including a 3-0 defeat at New York Red Bull on June 23 which saw their US Open Cup campaign come to an end.
With 32 points from 11 games, New York City FC are currently third in the Eastern Conference table, one point off their local rivals New York Red Bulls at the top of the pile, albeit with two games in hand.

Dallas will take to the pitch without 23-year-old Brandon Servania, who is suspended after receiving his marching orders against Houston Dynamo at the weekend.
On the injury front, the Burn remain without the services of Lucas Bartlett and Joshue Quinonez, who are both recuperating from rib and ankle injuries respectively.
South African forward Tsiki Ntsabeleng was hooked off with a 26th-minute injury on Sunday and the 24-year-old is also a doubt for Estevez's side.
As for the visitors, Cushing will have to make do with the absence of Keaton Parks, who is set to sit out his fifth consecutive game after coming off with a calf problem in the New York derby back in June.
He is joined on the New York City FC injury table by 31-year-old Anton Tinnerholm, who missed last Sunday's game against New England Revolution.

We say: Dallas 1-2 New York City FC
Off the back of a comfortable victory over the Revs, New York City FC will head into the game with renewed confidence as they look to go top of the log in the east. While we expect a cagey contest against a Dallas side who have proven tough to crack in this fixture, we are backing the Pigeons to claim all three points on Wednesday.
