Edin Terzic's men arrive in the French capital boasting a 1-0 lead from the opening semi-final tie thanks to a Niclas Fullkrug winner, as PSG rued a plethora of missed opportunities in front of the yellow wall.
Either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich will lie in wait at Wembley if Dortmund can cling onto or extend their slender advantage, while simultaneously crushing PSG's dreams of Champions League glory for another year.
Here, Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two sides.
Head-to-head record
Previous meetings: 7
PSG wins: 2
Draws: 3
Dortmund wins: 2
Last week's semi-final first leg marked the seventh meeting between PSG and Dortmund on the European stage, and neither side can boast any real head-to-head superiority, with two wins apiece and three stalemates on the record.
Fullkrug's crisp finish gave Dortmund their second win over the French champions, but the 1-0 scoreline was not at all reflective of the frenetic action on the Westfalenstadion field, as PSG let fly 14 times but only found the target with five of those attempts.
The German outfit now head into Tuesday's encounter on a two-match unbeaten run against PSG, whom they also held to a 1-1 draw at the Signal Iduna Park in this season's group stage, but trips to Paris have often proven unfruitful.
Indeed, Les Parisiens were 2-0 victors earlier in the tournament thanks to strikes from Achraf Hakimi and Kylian Mbappe, while Neymar and Juan Bernat were on target during an identical success in the 2019-20 last 16, just before the COVID-19 pandemic brought football to a standstill.
Dortmund had won the first leg of that last-16 tie 2-1 on home turf, so PSG are well-versed in overturning deficits against their yellow-clad counterparts and have already harnessed their powers of recovery once this season to eliminate Barcelona from the competition.
Before locking horns in the Champions League, PSG and Dortmund's inaugural showdowns came in the group phase of the 2010-11 Europa League, where the maiden meeting saw Nuri Sahin and Clement Chantome strike in a 1-1 draw in Germany.
A goalless stalemate followed in Paris, meaning that BVB are yet to win or indeed score in an away match against the Ligue 1 champions, and all four victories in this head-to-head so far have been claimed by the home side.
Of the 12 goals scored in this meeting to date, Neymar and Erling Haaland sit atop the pile with two each, while young stars Karim Adeyemi and Warren Zaire-Emery have also made the net ripple and could both be key to their teams' aspirations of reaching Wembley.
