Fulham will have the chance to complete a Premier League double over Newcastle United for the first time in 16 years when the two sides face off in Saturday's fixture.

The visitors have found wins hard to come by in recent times, having won just one of their previous five matches in the top flight.

Their only victory in that period took place in their most recent away outing against Leicester City, with goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Adama Traore proving enough to secure a 2-0 victory.

Unfortunately for Fulham, they followed that result with a narrow 1-0 defeat in last Sunday's home clash with Manchester United, leaving them in 10th position in the Premier League table with 33 points to their name.

Fulham out to end wait for Newcastle double

Fulham are now focusing on a tricky away meeting against a Newcastle side that are sitting just outside the top four on goal difference.

The Cottagers have already got the better of the Magpies this season, recording a 3-1 victory in September's home fixture thanks to goals from Raul Jimenez, Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson.

As a result of that victory, Fulham now have the chance to complete a Premier League double over Newcastle for just the third time and the first time in 16 years.

They recorded their first Premier League double over the Magpies in 2006-07, collecting 2-1 wins in both home and away fixtures.

The West London club then repeated the feat in the 2008-09 campaign, claiming a 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage, before recording a 1-0 win in the return fixture at St James' Park.

Fulham's recent record at St James' Park

Fulham's hopes of pulling off a league double may be slightly tempered by the fact they have failed to win any of their last four away games against Newcastle (D2, L2).

Marco Silva's side experienced a disappointing result in their most recent visit to St James' Park in December 2023 when they fell to a 3-0 defeat.

On that occasion, ten-man Fulham shipped three second-half goals after Jimenez was shown a straight red card in the 22nd minute.

The Cottagers will at least fancy their chances of avoiding a defeat this time around, having lost just one of their previous seven Premier League away games (W3, D3).

Fulham will enter Saturday's contest without the services of Harry Wilson, who is expected to be out of action for around 10 weeks after sustaining a foot injury against Man United.
