Newcastle United transfer news: PSG to present complex player plus cash proposal for Alexander Isak?

Since arriving at St James' Park in August 2022, Isak has proven himself to be one of the best strikers in world football.

A total of 57 goals and nine assists have been contributed from 98 appearances, already justifying the £63m deal that the Magpies agreed with Real Sociedad at the time.

However, the Sweden international has reached a point in his career where he will expect to be playing regular Champions League football and compete for silverware in general on a regular basis.

With Newcastle exiting the FA Cup at the weekend, the 25-year-old is left to try to guide the North-East giants into the top five of the Premier League table before the end of the season.

Can Newcastle resist PSG offer?

A wide array of high-profile clubs are said to be considering a big-money move for Isak, whose contract at St James' Park expires in 2028.

According to RMC Sport, PSG will attempt to get around a major financial outlay by offering three of their attackers in part-exchange.

The report suggests that the French giants are prepared to include Marco Asensio, Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani in any proposal made for Isak.

Would a deal make sense for Newcastle?

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has generally been in favour of signing players who can be deployed in more than one position, partly due to possessing a squad limited in numbers.

Passing the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations has proven to be an issue for some time, and bolstering their squad with three world-class players at the same time while generating a fee for Isak may prove tempting.

That said, much may depend on what straight cash offers are made for Isak, who has been linked with Liverpool. Newcastle will realistically want at least £100m for Isak given how he has improved since his arrival.

The players who may be offered by PSG are all not regarded as regular picks by boss Luis Enrique, Asensio and Kolo Muani having already been loaned to Aston Villa and Juventus respectively.

Meanwhile, Ramos has been limited to seven starts and 12 substitute outings in Ligue 1 and Champions League fixtures this season, still contributing seven goals and three assists.

Champions League football may need to be achieved to convince the trio to move to Newcastle, yet a place at European football's top table would give the Premier League side greater financial leeway to reject offers for Isak.
