Manchester United

The majority of Manchester United's first-team squad are reportedly in favour of the rotational policy that Ruben Amorim has adopted in the early stages of his time in charge of the Red Devils.

Amorim has a record of two wins, one draw and two defeats from his five games in charge, with Man United losing their last two in the Premier League against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.

The Portuguese has made an incredible 23 changes across Man United's last four matches, and according to the Manchester Evening News, at least one player has complained about the rotational policy.

However, the report claims that the majority of the players believe that it is beneficial, with a number of individuals being given chances to make their mark, as Amorim gets used to his squad.

Amorim has started 20 different players during his five matches, and more alterations are expected on Thursday evening, when the Red Devils tackle Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League, three days before the Manchester derby against Manchester City.

Amorim has made sweeping changes since arriving at Man United

"In this moment, it is impossible to play with the same team. They [the players] have to feel they are part of the team, but we are changing the methodology, we are changing a lot of things," Amorim told reporters after the 2-0 loss to Arsenal last week.

"We are changing the way we play, the way we press, so we have to have all the players fit. We cannot have injuries in this moment because it will be tough to cope with all the games so we will manage the way we feel is the better way for the team.

"It's not that I like to change [the line-up] all the time but if you see the game, Mason Mount cannot do the full game because we have to be careful in this stage.

"Harry Maguire has to leave the pitch no matter what. Leny Yoro, we have to control the time he plays. We did the same with Luke Shaw, we did the same with Ty [Tyrell] Malacia. We have to control the time, manage a new idea, win games and try to maintain all the players' fitness. It's a difficult period but let's focus on the performance and then think about the next game."

Shaw is Man United's only first-team absentee

Victor Lindelof and Toby Collyer have returned to the Man United squad for Thursday's Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzen, with the Red Devils being handed a double fitness boost.

Jonny Evans was also back in training on Wednesday, but the experienced centre-back has not made the trip to the Czech Republic.

As a result, Shaw is currently the only first-team player at Man United unavailable for selection through injury, with the England international picking up a hamstring problem which is likely to sideline him until early 2025.
