The King Power Stadium showdown pits last season's Championship winners against a Spurs side who agonisingly missed out on Champions League football last season, despite a record-breaking start under Ange Postecoglou.

While the Australian seeks to build on last season's fifth-placed finish, the Foxes start a new era under former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper, having witnessed Enzo Maresca jump ship for Chelsea earlier in the summer.

The 2015-16 Premier League champions will have to cope without regular Big Six tormentor Jamie Vardy for their inaugural contest - as well as fellow injury victim Patson Daka - but Spurs' new record signing Dominic Solanke is expected to lead the Lilywhites' line.

In total, the Foxes and the Lilywhites have shared 128 goals in 34 matches in the English top flight since 1992, including a whopping 28 in their last five since May 2021.

Leicester ran out 4-1 winners at the King Power Stadium during their most recent showdown in February 2023, prior to which Spurs thrashed the Foxes 6-2 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Each of the last five Premier League meetings between Tottenham and Leicester has seen at least five goals fly into the back of the net, and there has not been a goalless draw in this fixture since 1948, when both played in Division Two.

While Leicester flattered to deceive in front of goal during the latter stage of pre-season, Postecoglou's forward-thinking Tottenham side found the back of the net 17 times across their six games, an average of almost three per match.

Son Heung-min could hold the Tottenham key

The Lilywhites also let in at least two goals against Vissel Kobe, Bayern Munich (twice) and Team K-League, also giving rise to an entertaining affair at Leicester, where Son Heung-min will endeavour to extend a prolific record against the Foxes.

Expected to bomb down the left flank while Solanke acts as the central figurehead, Son has had a direct hand in 13 goals against Leicester in the Premier League, nine of his own and four assists.

Only against Southampton (15 direct contributions) has Son been involved in more goals in the Premier League, and the South Korean's last three matches against Leicester have produced five goals and one assist.

All-time leading scorer Harry Kane was renowned for his prolific exploits against the Foxes while representing Tottenham, and his 20 goals in this fixture remains his personal best against a single opponent.

While Kane is now making nets bulge for fun at Bayern Munich and Vardy is watching on from the infirmary, Son's hot streak versus Leicester, Solanke's desire to make a fast start and Spurs' pre-season defensive lapses means that the trend of high-scoring matches could very well continue on Monday.
