'I warned her' - McCoist had simple advice for Laura Woods before she gave birth

Woods and fiancé Adam Collard announced the safe arrival of baby Leo over the weekend.

But hostilities have already begun between the pair after Collard revealed that baby Leo has no choice but to take his dad's lead in supporting Newcastle.

The former Love Island star shared a picture of Leo on Instagram wearing a baby grow with 'Mini Magpie' written on it - ending any speculation over who his team would be.

Alongside the picture, he wrote: "If you aren't first you're last... @laurawoodsy."

But his actions did not go down well with Arsenal fan Woods who replied to his post by simply writing, "Fuming."

Woods' former talkSPORT co-host McCoist revealed that he had previously warned her to act fast when choosing her son's first football kit.

Speaking to Jeff Stelling on talkSPORT Breakfast on Tuesday, McCoist began by sending his well wishes to the couple before lifting the lid on his advice to Woods.

"It was always gonna happen, I don't care what anybody says," McCoist laughed.

"I warned her pre-birth," he added. "I said the only advice I can give you is as soon as the baby's born, if you've got any strength at all about you, you need to get an Arsenal kit on him.

"But the big fella's in first."

Stelling added: "He's going to grow up a Magpie. With the way Newcastle are going at the moment he'll have some great days ahead."

Woods may get the opportunity to sneakily drape Leo in Arsenal attire when Collard is out after becoming the recipient of an Arsenal baby grow courtesy of Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.

The presenter posted the heartwarming exchange with Arteta on Instagram, alongside the captions 'my club' and 'too cute'.

Collard and baby Leo will have their first opportunity to get one over on Woods when Newcastle face the Gunners in next week's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg.

Eddie Howe's side hold a 2-0 advantage ahead of the clash at St James' Park with a place in the final against either Tottenham or Liverpool up for grabs.
