Martin Braithwaite has become the richest player at Barcelona, thanks to his smart business decisions off the pitch.
He reportedly earns four million euros per season at the Camp Nou, yet it is his work off of the pitch that has led to his massive wealth.
It was revealed by Forbes in 2020 that Braithwaite had made a huge amount of money from other investments and, at that time, was only behind Lionel Messi in the Barcelona squad for overall wealth.
He invested in a real estate business with his uncle back in 2017 and it was certainly the right call. They now have real estate worth over 250m euros in areas such as New York, Philadelphia, Jersey City and San Antonio.
As well as the money from football and real estate, the Dane has a highly successful clothing business which he runs with his partner Anne-Laure Louis.
Just to add a little bit of extra cash, he also owns a restaurant in Barcelona called Gave.
"I always had this American side, and I think maybe that's why my mindset is maybe more American, of dreaming big, doing amazing things, writing goals down," he said in an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer.
"In Denmark, we have an amazing system protecting the people. Everyone is good. No one needs anything. In America, it's not really the same thing."
From disappointment at Middlesbrough to megabucks in Barcelona
It has been quite a journey for the Danish forward, who was on the books at Middlesbrough between 2017 and 2019. There, though, he only managed to find the back of the net nine times.
He had loan spells at both Bordeaux and Leganes during that time and it was the latter that he would sign for permanently in 2019.
Due to the unusual situations that Barcelona have managed to find themselves in in recent years, he was then bought by the Catalan club in February 2020 as an emergency signing. They activated his 18m euros release clause.
Since then, he has managed to grow his own wealth significantly and, with Messi having departed, he is now believed to be the richest player at the club.
