It was a huge statement victory for Erik ten Hag's side who are now just one point behind their rivals and considered to be firmly in the title race.
Fernandes spoke to the media after the match and attracted attention when saying: "[We] used to be individuals, now we are a team. You can see a proper team that works for each other."

Some suggested that the Portuguese stars comments were a dig at his international teammate Ronaldo who left the club by mutual consent last year following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
But referencing the now-Al Nassr star, Fernandes says that Ronaldo was not the intended target of his comments.
Writing on his Instagram story, Fernandes said: "I know that is difficult to see Manchester United doing well, [but I] don't have anything to [say] about us on the news apart [from] good things!
"Don't use my name to attack Cristiano.

"Cristiano was part of our team for half the season and as I said in many interviews, everyone since Liverpool is being amazing and acting like a proper team and you can see the results. We carry on!'"
