It's now been confirmed that Chelsea will travel to face Wolves at Molineux on December 24, the match set for a 1pm kick-off.
It will be the only fixture scheduled for that day, however, that doesn't mean that it won't be troublesome for supporters wishing to attend.
With Christmas Eve regularly used as a time for seeing family and friends - not to mention the inevitable chaos that will plague public transport that day - the decision to play a game that day has been met with a furious reaction from fans who believe that the decision is about money and not the paying supporters.
A statement from the Football Supporters' Association, said: "The Premier League has delivered an early present which no one actually wanted in the shape of a Christmas Eve fixture.
"The FSA and our supporters groups have consistently told the league this is a bad idea and they have totally ignored match-goers.

"They've put money first, fans last, and we'll be looking at ways to make that crystal clear to the Premier League and TV companies.
"It's shocking scheduling and we're in discussion with our members at Chelsea, Wolves and other supporters groups, on the next steps."
Those sentiments were echoed by Chelsea Supporters' Trust, who wrote: "It is totally unacceptable that Wolves v Chelsea has been scheduled for Christmas Eve.
"Since rumours began to circulate on this issue, the Chelsea Supporters' Trust has been clear that selecting this kick-off time will place another hurdle in the way of many match-going supporters. Not only could this lead to staffing issues at Molineux, but holiday transport timetables will further inconvenience supporters.

"On Tuesday 24 October, we requested an urgent meeting with the relevant decision-makers within the Premier League. We expect that this meeting will be held very soon, alongside the Wolves 1877 Trust, and the Football Supporters' Association.
"The Chelsea Supporters' Trust will formally request that the Premier League properly consults supporters on this issue and that they reverse this decision."
A Wolves supporter called Sean also aired his concerns to Andy Goldstein on talkSPORT Drive last week, saying: "I think that it's wrong.
"They haven't considered the fans in the decision - they've thought about the TV more than the fans.
"There's a couple of things, the logistics of it and people might go to see family on Christmas Eve, stay with them on Christmas Day and then go to football on Boxing Day after.
"For others there's the religious side of going to Christmas Eve mass.
"Selfishly I'd go [if it was at Molineux] with a 1pm kick-off, but I'd struggle if it was an away game, to be honest."
