England fans make Southgate feelings clear with brutal chant after Hungary loss

Gareth Southgate copped the frustration and anger of the England fans after the Three Lions were well beaten 4-0 by Hungary in the Nations League as their difficult form continued

England fans chanted "you don't know what you're doing" as the Three Lions were humiliated 4-0 by Hungary.

It rounds off a forgettable Nations League period in which Gareth Southgate's side failed to win any of their four games, scoring just once as they were beaten home and away by Hungary. England played away from Wembley once again and the Molineux crowd made their feelings known.

Hungary's third came with 10 minutes remaining and John Stones was dismissed just moments later. The jeers began ringing around Wolves ' home stadium. "We want Southgate out" chants followed the fourth as England were systematically taken apart by Hungary and suffered their worst home defeat since 1928.

England have faced criticism over the past fortnight with their only goal in the past four matches coming from the penalty spot. Despite the wealth of talent available to Southgate there has been questions asked over the team's philosophy whilst he confessed to an over reliance on Harry Kane.

The Tottenham forward led the line as the hosts failed to breach their opponents, who are ranked 35 places below England in the world rankings. He spoke candidly after the clash, saying on Channel 4 : "Its a disappointing night - first-half I thought we created enough to score, but that's been the story of this campaign, we haven't had the cutting edge.

"It is no time to panic, we'll keep our heads up, look forward to a break and come back in September. It is our first big defeat in a long time. It is a night to forger but we've got to take it on the chin and move forward." When quizzed on the fan reaction he added: "Yeah let's not forget where we've come from. Our first final in nearly 60 years, a semi-final of a World Cup. Of course I understand their frustration."

Former international Joe Cole also echoed those thoughts, insisting Southgate was more the capable of taking England forward despite the poor display. He said: "A shocking performance, the players were not at it and the attitude were wrong.

"I can understand the frustration of the fans. Does Gareth Southgate know what he is doing? Of course, he has taken the team to a semi-final and final but that was dreadful."

It leaves England bottom of their Nations League group with Hungary leading the way ahead of Germany and Italy. The Three Lions will return in September to face Italy and Germany as they attempt to get back on track ahead of the tournament in Qatar last this year.
