sportsmole.co.uk, 18 April 2024, 09:46
Manchester United will be bidding to book their spot in the final of the FA Cup when they take on Championship outfit Coventry City in the semi-finals of the competition on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag's side will enter the match off the back of a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend, and they are currently seventh in the table, 13 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

The Red Devils are the second-most successful side in the history of the FA Cup, lifting the trophy on 12 occasions, with their last triumph coming back in 2016.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Coventry, who won this competition back in 1987.

Raphael Varane

Status: Out

Type of injury: Muscle

Possible return date: Unknown

Varane was forced off at the interval of the recent clash with Chelsea due to another injury problem, and it has been revealed that a muscular issue will keep him out until the latter stages of the campaign.

Jonny Evans

Status: Major doubt

Type of injury: Muscle

Possible return date: April 21 (vs. Coventry)

Evans has struggled with a number of muscular issues in recent weeks, and the experienced centre-back is a major doubt for this weekend's contest due to his latest problem.

Victor Lindelof

Status: Out

Type of injury: Hamstring

Possible return date: May 4 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Lindelof will be absent until at least the start of May due to the hamstring issue which he picked up in the recent Premier League contest with Brentford.

Lisandro Martinez

Status: Out

Type of injury: Calf

Possible return date: May 4 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Martinez's injury problems are continuing, with the Argentina international picking up a calf issue during a recent training session, which will keep him on the sidelines until the start of May.

Tyrell Malacia

Status: Out

Type of injury: Knee

Possible return date: Unknown

Malacia is back in individual training, as he bids to recover from a knee injury which has required two separate operations, but the Dutchman is set to miss the rest of the season.

Anthony Martial

Status: Out

Type of injury: Groin

Possible return date: Unknown

Martial, who has not featured for the Red Devils since early December, underwent a groin operation in January; he is back in individual training but might have played his last game for the club, with the forward's contract set to expire at the end of June.

Luke Shaw

Status: Out

Type of injury: Muscle

Possible return date: Unknown

Shaw is currently on the sidelines with another muscular problem, but the left-back is believed to be on course to return to action before the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Harry Maguire

Status: Minor doubt

Type of injury: Muscle

Possible return date: April 21 (vs. Coventry)

Maguire was carrying a thigh issue during the clash with Bournemouth last weekend; he managed to play the full 90 minutes but has not been pictured in training this week. That said, Man United are believed to be confident that the centre-back will be available for selection on Sunday.

Scott McTominay

Status: Major doubt

Possible return date: April 21 (vs. Coventry)

McTominay has missed Man United's last two matches with a knee problem, and the Scotland international is not expected to recover in time for the FA Cup semi-final.
