Conte's brutal methods at Tottenham: Strict diets, gruelling runs and painstaking video analysis

The Italian coach is hammering his players during pre-season in Seoul

Tottenham are working hard, literally, during pre-season. Spurs are in South Korea preparing to play their first friendly of the summer against K-League All-Stars on Wednesday.

It's Antonio Conte's first pre-season in charge of Tottenham, and many will not forget it. The Italian coach's demanding training methods are leaving his players exhausted after each session.

After Monday's session, Harry Kane was left vomiting, while Son was seen in pain from fatigue on the pitch of the training ground after one of the gruelling sprints the players are subjected to.

Antonio Conte is undoubtedly a physically demanding coach. The Daily Mail have examined his methods in pre-season, as he aims to make Tottenham an invincible team.

Monday's session lasted two hours in the humid Seoul conditions.

After the rondos and an intense 10 vs 10 in two thirds of the pitch... came the surprise for the Spurs squad: a strenuous continuous running exercise that caught the players off guard, as they had not been warned about it.

Under the supervision of fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone, the Tottenham squad had to run 42 lengths of the pitch at a fast pace, no jogging.

The international players who joined the squad later due to commitments with their respective national teams, such as Kane and Son, 'only' had to do 30.

Three fitness coaches

The current style of pre-season tours, based more on marketing than on real preparation, complicates the kind of conditioning that the coach wants.

Antonio Conte wants his players to be real athletes, something that was evident upon his arrival at Tottenham in November.

This was partly due to the fact that the former Chelsea and Inter boss brought in three fitness coaches - Costantino Coratti, Gian Piero Ventrone and Stefano Bruno.

But it is not only physical work that Antonio Conte lives for. The video analysis sessions, which are daily, are extremely detailed.

At Chelsea, the Italian had cameras installed at the training ground and used the images during team talks and immediately before matches.

The third key aspect of Conte's preparation is nutrition. During his first week at Tottenham, the manager made sure his squad ate lunch together.

The Athletic also reported that he removed "heavy food and sandwiches" from the menu and got rid of ketchup and mayonnaise after noticing that some players were overweight.

Conte has also reduced the amount of juice, as well as the amount of oil and butter used in cooking. He also urged the squad to eat more fruit.

Only time will tell if the Italian coach's methods produce the expected results.

What is clear is that the players were left 'dead' after Monday's session with the images of Kane and Son going around the world.
