Manchester City will be aiming to bounce back from successive defeats when they continue their Premier League title defence with a clash against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola's side have lost eight of their last 11 matches in all competitions, and last weekend's 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the Manchester derby left them in fifth spot in the Premier League table, nine points behind the leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.

Villa, meanwhile, are currently seventh in the division, three points behind fourth-placed Nottingham Forest, and Unai Emery's side have been victorious in three of their last four matches in all competitions.

That said, Villa will enter this contest off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Forest at the City Ground.

Indeed, Man City have won 15 and lost just one of their last 17 matches with Villa, including a 4-1 victory when the two teams last locked horns in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium in April 2024.

Villa beat the Citizens 1-0 in the corresponding match at Villa Park last term, though, which proved to be their first Premier League success over the reigning English champions since September 2013.
