Jean-Sylvain Babin

Jean-Sylvain Claude Babin (born 14 October 1986) is a Martiniquais professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Sporting de Gijon as a central defender.

Club Career

Born in Corbeil-Essonnes, Essonne, Babin graduated from LB Chateauroux's youth setup, and made his senior debuts with the B-team. He started appearing as a professional in the 2003–04 season, featuring once with the main squad in Ligue 2.

On 30 August 2007, Babin was loaned to FC Martigues. After his loan expired, he left Chateauroux.

On 14 July 2008, Babin moved to Spain and joined Lucena CF in Segunda Division B. He was regularly used by the Andalusians during his stint, being an important defensive unit during the 2009–10 campaign.

On 2 August 2010, Babin signed for AD Alcorcon, freshly promoted to Segunda Division. He made his debut for the Madrid club late in the month, starting in a 1–1 away draw against Albacete Balompie.

Babin scored his first goal for the Alfareros on 22 October 2011, netting the winner in a 2–1 home success over Recreativo de Huelva.
