Rochdalevs.Tamworth

sportsmole.co.uk, 15 December 2024, 10:59
Tamworth will be bidding to stretch their unbeaten run of form in all competitions to six matches when they tackle Rochdale in the National League on Tuesday night.

The visitors, who are 16th in the National League table, will enter the contest off the back of a 1-1 draw with York City on Saturday, while ninth-placed Rochdale suffered a 1-0 loss to Dagenham & Redbridge on the same afternoon.

Match preview

Rochdale boast a record of 10 wins, three draws and seven defeats from their 20 National League matches this season, with a record of 33 points leaving them in ninth spot in the table, just one point off the playoff positions.

The Dale have lost two of their last three games in all competitions, including a 1-0 reverse to Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, with their last success in the National League coming against Gateshead at the end of November.

Jimmy McNulty's side have collected 17 points from their nine home league fixtures this season, and they will be welcoming a Tamworth outfit that have just seven points to show from their nine away games in 2024-25.

Rochdale finished 11th in the National League last season after their relegation from League Two, and the Greater Manchester outfit will be expecting to battle for a playoff spot this term considering the strength of their squad.

Tamworth, meanwhile, currently sit 16th in the table, boasting a record of seven wins, five draws and eight defeats from their 20 matches to collect 26 points.

The Lambs are the reigning National League North champions, so avoiding relegation is their main goal for this season, and with that in mind, it has been a successful campaign to date.

Andy Peaks' side are six points ahead of the bottom four, and they will enter this match in excellent form, winning four of their last five games in all competitions, remaining unbeaten in the process.

Tamworth have had an incredibly busy schedule in recent weeks, playing in the National League, FA Cup, FA Trophy and Birmingham Senior Cup since the end of last month, but they will enter this match off the back of a 1-1 draw with York City in the league.

Team News

Kairo Mitchell has been Rochdale's most productive player this season in the final third of the field, scoring nine goals and registering two assists in 19 appearances.

The 27-year-old will again be a certain starter for the home side on Tuesday night, while there will also be a spot in the final third of the field for Devante Rodney, who has six goals in his 15 outings this term.

Rochdale have not reported any injury concerns from their clash with Dagenham, meaning that McNulty is set to have the same squad available for the contest with Tamworth.

The visitors, meanwhile, are likely to be unchanged from the side that took to the field for the first whistle against York.

Dan Creaney is having a strong campaign, with the 30-year-old managing seven goals and three assists in 20 appearances, and he will feature in the final third of the field.

Chris Wreh has three goals to his name during the 2024-25 campaign, but it is likely that the 28-year-old will be among the substitutes for the first whistle on Tuesday night.

Rochdale possible starting lineup:

Waller; Gordon, Hogan, Beckwith; Adebayo-Rowling, East, Gilmour, Buyabu; Burger, Mitchell, Rodney

Tamworth possible starting lineup:

Singh; Crompton, Cullinane-Luburd, Hollis, Frairlamb; McGlinchey, Milnes, Tonks, Williams; Morrison; Creaney

We say: Rochdale 2-1 Tamworth

Tamworth are capable of making this a tricky match for Rochdale, and we are not expecting it to be a routine home success for the Dale, but McNulty's side should be able to navigate their way to all three points.
