Real Madrid will be looking to bounce back from their Spanish Super Cup disappointment when they welcome Celta Vigo to the Santiago Bernabeu for Thursday's Copa del Rey clash.

Carlo Ancelotti's side are reeling from Sunday's heavy 5-2 defeat against Clasico rivals Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final, which saw Los Blancos concede four first-half goals as the Blaugrana clinched the silverware with ease.

After missing the chance to win their second trophy of the season, Real Madrid will be determined to avoid any slip-ups in their Copa del Rey last-16 tie against Celta, who they beat 2-1 when they travelled to Balaidos for October's league outing.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of the Copa del Rey clash, with Los Blancos looking to avoid a second straight last-16 exit.

David Alaba

Status: Out

Type of injury: Knee

Possible return date: January 19 (vs. Las Palmas)

Alaba is on the verge of making his return to competitive action for the first time since he suffered an ACL injury in December 2023. The Austria international was an unused substitute for Real Madrid's two matches at the Spanish Super Cup, and while there is a possibility he could be on the bench against Celta, he is expected to make his comeback to the pitch against Las Palmas on Sunday or next week's Champions League game against RB Salzburg.

Dani Carvajal

Status: Out

Type of injury: Knee

Possible return date: Unknown

Carvajal has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after he sustained a serious knee injury in the closing stages of October's league clash with Villarreal.

Eder Militao

Status: Out

Type of injury: Knee

Possible return date: Unknown

Like Carvajal, Militao will be unavailable for the rest of the 2024-25 campaign after he damaged his ACL for the second season in a row in November's meeting with Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Real Madrid lost their appeal against Vinicius Juniors' red card in the 2-1 win over Valencia earlier this month. However, the Brazilian will serve his two-match ban in La Liga, meaning he will be able to play a part in Thursday's cup fixture.
