Mount made the move to Man United from Chelsea in 2023 off the back of scoring 33 goals and registering 35 assists in 195 appearances for the Blues, but he has struggled to make his mark in Manchester.
The 25-year-old has been restricted to just 26 appearances due to injury problems, managing only one goal and one assist.
Mount has not featured in the Premier League since the end of September, but he was back on the bench against Leicester City before the November international break, having recovered from his latest injury problem.
Amorim is widely expected to implement a 3-4-3 system at Man United, which could benefit Mount, with the Englishman seemingly suited to one of the number 10 positions in the final third of the field.
The new Red Devils head coach has said that he 'loves' Mount, who is expected to be in the squad for Sunday's Premier League clash with Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
Amorim lavishes praise on Mount ahead of Ipswich clash
"Mason Mount... I have to tell you I love that kid," Amorim told Man United's official media on Friday. "You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me.
"I know he was suffering from injuries, he was not on the pitch, but now he's trying to stay fit and we hope he can continue to be fit, to show all the talent that he's shown, for example, in Chelsea.
"He played in this system [before], so it's perfect for him. I have two positions for Mason Mount, so he should be very happy!"
Mount started Man United's first two Premier League matches of the 2024-25 campaign against Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion, but he has been absent in England's top flight since the game with Tottenham Hotspur on September 29.
The attacker was a late substitute against PAOK in the Europa League on November 7, though, and he will now be aiming to put his injury problems behind him under Amorim.
Is Mount expected to start against Ipswich?
Amorim has a number of huge decisions to make when it comes to his starting side on Sunday, but it is expected that Mount will be among the substitutes rather than in the first XI.
Should Amorim, as expected, line the team up in a 3-4-3 formation, then Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho may be the two players behind starting centre-forward Rasmus Hojlund.
Manuel Ugarte is in line for another start in central midfield, while Kobbie Mainoo is back to fitness after a muscular problem and could come straight back into the XI for the contest at Portman Road.
