After thrashing Newcastle United 4-0 in the top flight last weekend, the Citizens fell to a 3-1 defeat at Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League playoff tie on Wednesday night, losing 6-3 on aggregate.
Pep Guardiola's side are now focused on securing a top-four finish in the Premier League and come up against a title-chasing Liverpool side who drew 2-2 at Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Arne Slot's side.
Rodri
Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown
Man City are set to be without influential midfielder Rodri for the rest of the season after he suffered knee ligament damage in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal in September.
However, the Spaniard offered a positive update on his recovery at the end of last year, setting a new target for when he wishes to return.
Manuel Akanji
Status: Out
Type of injury: Abductor
Possible return date: April 19 (vs. Everton)
Manuel Akanji has undergone successful surgery on an abductor injury sustained on February 11 and the defender is set to remain sidelined until mid-April.
John Stones
Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: February 23 (vs. Liverpool)
John Stones was forced off in the first eight minutes of City's midweek defeat to Real Madrid with an apparent knee injury and the defender is seemingly set for another spell on the sidelines.
Erling Haaland
Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: February 23 (vs. Liverpool)
Erling Haaland picked up a minor knee problem towards the end of City's win over Newcastle last weekend and although he returned to training earlier this week, he was not fully fit to start against Real Madrid and watched on as an unused substitute. The Norwegian may be fit to return to Guardiola's side on Sunday, though.
Oscar Bobb
Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle/fitness
Possible return date: Unknown
After more than six months out with a leg fracture, Oscar Bobb has gradually been building up his fitness in training, but he recently picked up a minor ankle issue which has set him back slightly in his recovery. It remains to be seen when the attacker will return to the first-team fold.
