Man Cityvs.Brighton

sportsmole.co.uk, 12 March 2025, 10:32
Manchester City will be bidding to return to winning ways when they host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Citizens will enter the match off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, which proved to be a third loss in their last five matches in all competitions.

Pep Guardiola's side are currently fifth in the Premier League table, two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, with the reigning champions locked in a battle to secure Champions League qualification for next season.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Brighton, who are seventh in England's top flight, just one point behind their opponents here.

Rodri

Status: Out

Type of injury: Knee

Possible return date: Unknown

Rodri had been expected to miss the rest of the season when he suffered a major knee injury against Arsenal towards the start of the campaign, but the Spaniard has made excellent progress in his recovery, and there is now a strong chance that the midfielder will be available for selection before the season concludes.

Manuel Akanji

Status: Out

Type of injury: Abductor

Possible return date: April 19 (vs. Everton)

Akanji has undergone successful surgery on an abductor injury sustained last month, and the defender will not be available until at least the middle of April.

John Stones

Status: Out

Type of injury: Thigh

Possible return date: Unknown

Stones has missed Man City's last four games since being forced off with a thigh injury against Real Madrid in the Champions League, and it is unclear at this stage when the England international could return.

Oscar Bobb

Status: Out

Type of injury: Ankle/fitness

Possible return date: Unknown

Bobb had been gradually building up his fitness following a broken leg before picking up a minor ankle issue, which has set him back in his recovery - the attacker remains unavailable for selection, with a clear return date at this stage of proceedings being unclear.

Nathan Ake

Status: Out

Type of injury: Foot

Possible return date: Unknown

Man City will be without the services of Ake for the remainder of the campaign, with the Netherlands international undergoing an operation on a fractured foot, so his focus is now on returning next season.
