Long-term absentees Boubacar Kamara and Tyrone Mings (both knee) have got minutes under their belts with the Under-21s over the last fortnight, but this weekend's game is set to come too soon for the duo, and the same can be said for midfielder John McGinn who is still nursing a hamstring issue.
Ezri Konsa and Amadou Onana (both hamstring) were unable to represent England and Belgium respectively on international duty, while Jaden Philogene picked up an unspecified problem while playing for England Under-21s.
All three players are doubtful for the trip to Fulham and will be assessed ahead of kickoff along with Jacob Ramsey, who picked up a muscle injury in the 0-0 draw with Manchester United prior to the international break.
With all of the above in mind, Unai Emery is unlikely to make too many changes to his starting lineup, although Diego Carlos could be recalled to start alongside Pau Torres at centre-back if Konsa is not deemed fit to feature.
Ross Barkley could retain his place in midfield alongside Youri Tielemans if Onana misses out, while Leon Bailey, Morgan Rogers and Emiliano Buendia are all in contention to play in the final third, as is super sub Jhon Duran who could finally be handed his first league start of the season alongside Ollie Watkins.
Aston Villa possible starting lineup: Martinez; Cash, Carlos, Torres, Digne; Bailey, Barkley, Tielemans, Rogers; Duran, Watkins
