Burnley made a fast start to their bid to secure an immediate return to the Premier League, claiming dominant wins over Luton Town and Cardiff City in their first two league matches of the season.

Although Pompey have not visited Turf Moor since December 2011, they will attempt to take confidence from the fact they have avoided defeat in each of their last eight away games against Burnley.

Burnley are unable to call upon the services of Manuel Benson, Jordan Beyer, Hannes Delcroix, Hjalmar Ekdal, Aaron Ramsey and Nathan Redmond due to injury.
