Two Premier League clubs eye Axel Disasi but Chelsea need £30m to avoid loss

talksport.com, 27 January 2025, 16:11
Aston Villa and Wolves are interested in Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, talkSPORT understands.

talkSPORT understands that the Blues are looking for a permanent sale and the Frenchman has agreed terms with Villa.

But if that move falls through relegation-threatened Wolves could be ready to swoop in for the player.

Chelsea will need £30million to avoid a loss on their balance sheet.

Disasi signed for the west London giants from Monaco in 2023 for a reported £38.5million.

He scored against Liverpool on his Premier League debut last season but has since struggled to make a big impact on the side.

The 26-year-old has made 61 appearances in total for the club although he's featured in just six of their league matches this season.

Chelsea have numerous options at centre-back including Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile and the injured Wesley Fofana.

They have also recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Crystal Palace and played fellow youth graduate Josh Acheampong.

Furthermore, Aaron Anselmino has been recalled from Boca Juniors, although his first-team minutes will likely be limited this season.

Villa on the other hand are in desperate need of a new centre-back as Ezri Konsa is their only senior choice that's fit.

Tyrone Mings was substituted in the 38th minute of their 1-1 draw against West Ham on Sunday with a suspected knee injury.

The blow came three days after it was announced that Diego Carlos had completed his move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Pau Torres is also unavailable with a metatarsal injury.

Disasi could become their third signing of the January window after Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia.

Wolves are also eyeing reinforcements as they look to steer out of relegation danger.

Defeat at home to Arsenal and Leicester's shock win over Tottenham saw Vitor Pereira's men drop into the bottom three.

Disasi will leave a Chelsea side who have fallen off the pace since the festive period with just one league win from seven.

Following claims from earlier in the season that they're in the title race, the Blues have fallen out of the top four into sixth.
