Suarez, like he has been doing throughout his glittering career, finished brilliantly from Thomas Lemar's threaded pass to double his side's lead before half time after the Frenchman's opener.
And the ex-Liverpool man celebrated by cupping a phone to his ear as he reminded Ronald Koeman that he made a mistake by letting him go via a call before he moved to the Spanish capital.
Suarez has spoken at length at how he felt betrayed by those at Camp Nou for the way he was treated shortly before his departure and he made his feelings known to Koeman, who was sitting in the crowd due to his touchline ban for being sent off against Cadiz.
The Uruguayan scored a staggering 195 goals in 283 appearances for Barca in six years at Camp Nou following his move from Liverpool in 2014.
To everyone's surprise he was allowed to leave for Atletico in 2020 before helping them to the LaLiga title last season.
And his former club's season has gone from from bad to worse following the defeat at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The five-time European champions, who lost their greatest ever player Lionel Messi for free in the summer, have had a desperately disappointing start to their campaign.
They have won three of their opening six LaLiga matches but a 3-0 defeat to Benfica in midweek has meant this is the Spanish giants' worst start to a Champions League campaign and currently sit bottom of Group E.
Nevertheless, Barca president Joan Laporta insisted Koeman would not be sacked regardless of any result to Atletico.
He told Mundo Deportivo: "Ronald Koeman will continue to be Barça manager. He deserves trust. When the injured players return, we will have more of a margin.
"Koeman is a Culer and a reference point for Barcelona, I've spoken with him and I drew my conclusions.
"I really appreciate that he decided to coach the club at a time of maximum institutional and sporting difficulty. He could have had his moments of discouragement, but he has come to his senses and now that the injured are coming back he deserves that trust.
"We talked, it's not true that we have a cold relationship. It's a good and a sincere relationship.
"He's a good person and I think he thinks the same of me. We are all trying to make it better."
