Aguero set to receive four offers just days after heartbreaking retirement

Sergio Aguero is already set to receive four job offers just days after retiring as a player, according to a pair of reports.

The Manchester City legend announced his retirement from football on Wednesday, with a heart problem causing him to end his playing career after just five matches for Barcelona, whom he joined in the summer after 10 trophy-filled years at City.

Aguero is City's all-time record goalscorer with 260 strikes, while he sits fourth in the all-time Premier League goalscoring list with 184 goals.

The Argentina international spoke at an emotional press conference on Wednesday, when he stated that the heart issue that was detected during a match against Alaves on October 30 meant that he could no longer play on.

"This conference is to communicate that I have decided to stop playing football," he told a packed press room at the Nou Camp.

"It is a very difficult moment. The decision I have made I have taken for my health, that is the main reason, because of the problem that I had a month-and-a-half ago.

"I was in good hands of the medical staff who have done their best and have told me the best thing would be to stop playing.

"So I made that decision about a week ago and I want to tell everyone I did everything possible to have hope, but there wasn't very much."

The news led to scores of tributes from Aguero's former teammates, opponents and managers, with City boss Pep Guardiola - who attended the press conference - comparing the forward to Argentina legend Diego Maradona.

"Maradona conquered Italy, Messi did it in Spain and Aguero has done it in England, his numbers speak for themselves," he said, with current City star Kevin De Bruyne taking to Twitter to add: "One of the best strikers ever! Want to wish you all the best for the future legend. See you soon."

And a return to City could now be on the cards, with Argentinean publication Ole claiming that City are to offer Aguero a role as a global ambassador as he embarks on his new life away from the pitch.

City would hope that Aguero would be able to engage supporters from all over the world as he is so closely associated with their recent successes, however it is unclear whether he intends to accept the position.

In addition, Spanish publication Marca claim that there are at least three more offers on the table for Aguero.

Two of them come from his native Argentina, where a role on manager Lionel Scaloni's coaching team for the World Cup is said to be an option, as well a position with one of the country's national youth teams.

A television punditry position is also believed to be on the table for Aguero, who is set to take some time out before deciding his next move.
