'World class' Harry Kane puts Spurs woes aside to outshine Robert Lewandowski

You could almost sense the release of a summer's worth of angst and tension from the 28-year-old, who tried to leave north London this summer for pastures new.

Despite reported interest from Manchester City, Kane has remained at Tottenham after the transfer window slammed shut and has continued to score goals at an incredible rate.

Speaking after the game in Warsaw, Gareth Southgate had nothing but praise and admiration for his skipper.

"You wouldn't have noticed from the way he has trained all week," Southgate told talkSPORT.

"Physically, he looks in good condition given that he hasn't had as long back in the team.

"Of course, he has scored his three goals which would have been the perfect week for him, but for the equaliser at the end."

Damian Szymanski grabbed a late equaliser for the hosts in the Polish capital after a cross into the box from the ethereal Robert Lewandowski.

Before the game, much was made in the media of the meeting of two of the most deadly strikers on the planet.

While Lewandowski is regularly recognised as world class by his peers and pundits alike, Kane's vacant trophy cabinet is perhaps limiting his chances of entering the elite conversation.

Yet former Spurs striker Darren Bent believes a lack of silverware is not what we should judge England's No.9 on.

"Of course, as we have said before, he is yet to deliver in finals," Bent told talkSPORT.

"He has played in a number of finals and he is yet to deliver. But he is still one of the best centre-forwards in the world.

"If you look at his goal return; we always say that the Premier League is the most competitive and the hardest league in the world, he has won four Golden boots in that time.

"He's on the verge of becoming England's record goal scorer, you can't tell me he is not world class."

While it remains to be seen if Kane gets his move away from Spurs, you cannot question his professionalism and pedigree as a goal scorer. Perhaps international success will silence those final dissenting voices.
