Latest
Although held to a 1-1 draw last weekend in Augsburg, Wolfsburg look to be on the up on the back of seven points from their last four games. The hero of late has been Yannick Gerhardt, who got the Wolves' goal last time out and snatched them a late winner at home to VfB Stuttgart a fortnight ago. Performances that have helped solidify his place in a team that is still finding its shape. The return of Patrick Wimmer after several weeks out is a boost, while Lukas Nmecha and Mattias Svanberg are both also in line for starts again. There's further good news with Jonas Wind set to return to action, having not featured since the opening weekend.
Wolfsburg therefore have plenty of options to try and test Sommer in the Gladbach goal, but he has proven numerous times this season that he's up for the challenge. A 5-1 loss at Werder Bremen two weeks ago looks to have been a one-off blip as the Foals doubled their goals conceded tally in one game. They bounced back in style with five of their own to claim Rhine derby spoils against Cologne last weekend. Christoph Kramer picked up an ankle injury that day and is a doubt, giving coach Daniel Farke the chance to play Alassane Plea alongside captain Lars Stindl for the first time in the league this season. Marcus Thuram will continue to lead the line, with Jonas Hofmann down the right in front of Joe Scally.
