Willian's defiant Arsenal move on social media speaks volumes

Much-maligned Arsenal winger Willian has dropped the biggest hint over his future via a subtle social media shot at the Gunners.

The former Chelsea man has had Arsenal's Instagram tag in the bio of his own profile on the same site, but amid speculation he could be nearing the Emirates exit door - has removed any mention of Mikel Arteta's side in the informational section of his page.

Where it once simply read ' Arsenal FC', now reads 'I belong to Jesus', the omission of Arsenal's tag only adding further fuel to the rumours he could call time on his Gunners career after just one season in North London.

Willian made the switch to Arsenal from Chelsea at the beginning of last term, which though cost Arteta's side nothing in terms of transfer fees, did make the Brazilian one of the highest earners at the club.

It would prove to be a disastrous move for all parties, the 33-year-old making 25 Premier League appearances for Arsenal with a meagre return of just one goal and five assists - three of which came on the opening day.

Things hardly fared better in any of the other competitions, Willian failing to find the net in all three of the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Europa League.

Willian's one-season stint at Arsenal has been so underwhelming, the Gunners hierarchy are reportedly willing to let the winger leave for free despite still boasting a further two years on his current contract.

Discussions between Arsenal and Corinthians understood to be at an advanced stage given the willingness from both clubs to complete a deal, as well as the player's desperation to leave.

There is however, work still to be done and very little time to do it in - presenting the small chance that Willian could remain an Arsenal player next season.

Willian's exit is not expected to be the only departure Arsenal oversee in the final days of the transfer window, with Lucas Torreira already having his loan move to Fiorentina confirmed.
