However the Hammers have lost their magic touch lately, failing to win their last three games - and their fixture list for December won't make things any easier.
So could this next month to define West Ham's season?
The Irons beat high flying Liverpool 3-2 at the London Stadium back at the start of November, sending a clear message to the rest of the pack chasing a Champions League spot that they were not to be underestimated.
But since then, David Moyes's side have lost against Wolves, Manchester City and were held to a draw by Brighton after taking the lead in the first half, bursting the Hammers' bubble.
The east London outfit are set to face the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal this month, a difficult task at the best of times.
And to make things tougher, the Hammers' come up against a congested Christmas schedule, as well as the challenge of key players such as Michail Antonio tiring from the effects of playing in Europe, the EFL Cup and the Premier League.
West Ham's next six fixtures make for painful reading:
Chelsea (H) - 4th December
Dinamo Zagreb (H) - Europa League - 9th December
Burnley (A) - 12th December
Arsenal (A) - 15th December
Norwich (H) - 18th December
Spurs (A) - Carabao Cup - 22nd December
Given how little time Moyes's team have to recover between games, questions have rightly been asked around whether the Irons can make it through a period that is far more tightly packed than they're used to.
However, it's not all doom and gloom by any means, given Moyes's team do face two relegation candidates in Burnley and Norwich.
If the Hammers can pick up bonus results against the harder opposition and get through to the next round of the FA Cup too, belief will surely be firmly restored regarding their prospects this season.
Not only that, but this run of games serves as a perfect opportunity to send another statement to the rest of the teams competing for the top four.
