The Blues have enjoyed a largely excellent start to the season including a victory in their Champions League opener against Zenit at Stamford Bridge.
However a trip to Turin will be an entirely different proposition.
Juventus may have lost Cristiano Ronaldo over the summer but still boast a plethora of outstanding talent including Morata, but unfortunately for the Spaniard he has been ruled out of the clash through injury.
Along with Paulo Dybala, the striker hobbled off during Juventus's 3-2 victory over Sampdoria at the weekend, with Massimiliano Allegri confirming that both players will miss the Champions League clash, saying: "They will certainly not be available against Chelsea or Torino.
"Then there is the international break. We hope to have them back after that, but this is part of the game.
"Now it happens to us, later it could happen to someone else. We will need to be good to make up for the absences."
The news will be a huge blow for the Spaniard.
Morata moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2017 but struggled to meet expectation with 24 goals in 72 appearances for the club.
After spending `18 months on loan with Atletico Madrid, the striker completed a permanent move to the Spanish side in 2020 before joining Juventus on a one-year loan which has since been extended for the upcoming campaign.
Now in his second spell in Turin, Morata has managed 50 goals and 31 assists in 144 appearances for the Old Lady.
