A back injury kept Füllkrug on the sidelines for Bremen's trip to Munich on Tuesday, and his teammates returned him similarly bruised following a heavy 6-1 defeat against Bayern. The 29-year-old is expected back in the starting line-up on Saturday however, fresh from the news that his sparkling form in netting 10 goals so far this season has earned him a spot in Germany's World Cup squad. Head coach Ole Werner has a tried and trusted core of players that have shone on the club's return to the Bundesliga this term, so he is not expected to rotate much even as this 'Englische Woche' - a week with midweek fixtures - comes to an end. He may be forced into one change however: centre-back Milos Veljkovic was taken off injured at the Allianz Arena, so is expected to be replaced in defence by Niklas Stark.
If Bremen's bold, attacking play has won them new admirers this season, Leipzig's vastly improved performances and results since Marco Rose took over in September have been equally eye-catching. Die Roten Bullen are currently on a five-game winning run in all competitions, and are unbeaten in their last 12, lifting them up to fifth in the standings. Nkunku was on target yet again as Leipzig overcame Freiburg 3-1 on Wednesday - taking him to 12 in the Bundesliga already in 2022/23 - while Dani Olmo has been a constant menace since recovering from injury and Dominik Szoboszlai is producing some consistently brilliant displays in an extended run of starts. Even without the injured first-choice trio of Timo Werner, Peter Gulacsi and Konrad Laimer, Leipzig will take some stopping.
