Latest
Füllkrug is this season's joint-top scorer after 11 matches, with eight Bundesliga goals, but hasn't fired in two. Bremen have lost to Mainz and Freiburg in that time, whilst exiting the DFB Cup second round on penalties to Bundesliga 2's Paderborn. The promoted Green-Whites were flirting with the top four a fortnight ago, but currently find themselves down in 11th place, albeit seven points clear of the relegation zone. The disparity between points at home and on the road is perhaps the biggest concern. Bremen have collected four from a possible 15 at the Weser-Stadion, compared to 11 from 18 away. Only rock-bottom Schalke - last season's Bundesliga 2 champions ahead of Ole Werner's team - have fared worse on their own patch. Captain Marco Friedl's suspension could see former Hertha man Niklas Stark come into the back three, though Milos Veljkovic will most likely get the nod, if passed fit.
Sandro Schwarz's Hertha recorded their first home win of the season at the expense of Schalke last weekend. Summer signing Wilfried Kanga broke his Bundesliga duck to secure a last-gasp 2-1 victory that lifted the Old Lady three points above the bottom three. The Ivorian had dropped to the bench for the 3-2 loss to RB Leipzig a week earlier, but should retain his place in the starting line-up for the trip to Bremen. The well-travelled Stevan Jovetic is also expected to start for the third straight game, alongside top scorer Dodi Lukebakio and Chidera Ejuke. Marco Richter - who had successful surgery to remove a testicular tumour in the summer - is another option, but veteran midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng remains a doubt. Defender Filip Uremovic is definitely out, meanwhile, so Agustin Rogel should continue in defence for a Hertha side that's lost just one of their last seven.
