WWE legend John Cena praises Newcastle star to leave fans stunned

The 31-year-old, who scored in Thursday's win over Brighton, was name-dropped by the American wrestler-turned-actor over his choice of car.

While many footballers live a life of luxury and show off their flashy cars, Burn instead opts to drive a Smart car around town - despite being one of the Premier League's tallest players at 6ft 7in.

And 16-time WWE world champion Cena has commended the former Seagulls defender for doing so.

Cena is currently promoting his latest film Fast X - the tenth instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise.

In a video shared by the Magpies' official Twitter account, the 46-year-old applauded Burn in what is one of the most bizarre crossovers in 2023.

The Champ said of the ex-Fulham man: "Nice, so I like this. Dan Burn owns a smart car. And he's six foot seven. People are like 'no way'.

"This is a conscious effort to make a statement and that's why cars are like art. They are expressions of who we are.

"This guy knows his self-worth. He looks in the mirror every day and says, 'I'm enough'. And a fancy car doesn't define me.

"Dan Burn - nice flex. Sick burn."

Football fans were left stunned by Cena's praise of Burn, as one supporter tweeted: "A link-up no one would've imagined."

Another user posted: "Words can't express how confused i am right now."

A third added: "John Cena and Dan Burn collab is crazy, need Paul Dummett and The Rock next."

This fan commented: "This might be the best thing I've ever seen."

Meanwhile another stated: "What the hell is going on?"

Despite Cena clearly a fan of Burn, the Newcastle faithful shouldn't be expecting to see him at St James' Park anytime soon, with the WWE icon known to be a fan of Tottenham.
