Transfer news live - PSG react to Chelsea's Kimpembe pursuit plus Neymar stance

mirror.co.uk, 17 July 2022, 07:00
Having signed Kalidou Koulibaly this summer transfer window, Chelsea are expected to make at least one more addition at centre-back and Presnel Kimpembe is on their radar

Chelsea's business is well and truly up and running after a slow start to the summer transfer window.

The Blues have added Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly to their ranks and Thomas Tuchel is set to strengthen further with at least one more addition at centre-back. Paris Saint-Germain's Presnel Kimpembe is a target, as is Sevilla's Jules Kounde.

Speaking of PSG, Neymar has made a decision over his future at the Parc des Princes five years on from his mega-money arrival. Elsewhere, Amadou Onana is the subject of serious Premier League interest and West Ham appear to have stolen a march on the likes of Liverpool by submitting a hefty bid for the midfielder.

Stay tuned right here for all the latest transfer news on Sunday!

Silva going nowhere

Manchester City have no intention of selling Bernardo Silva to Barcelona this summer - despite reports from Spain claiming that the Premier League champions have told the midfielder's agent he can leave for less than £70million.

Barca boss Xavi has made the Portuguese a key target as he looks to rebuild at the Nou Camp - and he is trying to raise the cash by flogging Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United. There have now been suggestions that City will cash in on Silva for less than €80million (£68m) if Barcelona can come up with the money.

It has been reported that City have given super-agent Jorge Mendes the green light to seal a deal at a bargain price. But the word from the Etihad is that Pep Guardiola still views the 27-year-old as a huge part of his plans for next season.

Neymar wants to stay at PSG

Neymar has his heart set on staying at Paris Saint-Germain this summer so there is no upheaval ahead of the World Cup this winter.

The Brazil talisman is desperate to end his country's 20-year wait for World Cup glory and GOAL claims he would like to stay put to give himself the best preparation for the tournament.

That is despite the fact PSG would be willing to sell the 30-year-old if a suitable bid is received.

PSG respond to Chelsea's Kimpembe links

New Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier says he has been laughing with Presnel Kimpembe over reports linking the defender with a move to Chelsea.

However, he also admitted he does not know where Kimpembe - a target for the Blues this summer - will end up.

Galtier told L'Equipe: "I've read everything that has been said about Kimpembe. We even laughed about it together! I like him - he's a great centre-back but what will happen, I don't know."

PSG boss refuses to rule out Kimpembe exit

PSG boss Christophe Galtier has revealed he and Presnel Kimpembe laughed about links suggesting he could join Chelsea.

The Blues have already signed Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli but Thomas Tuchel wants more centre-backs after losing Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger this summer.

Kimpembe is on Tuchel's wishlist, with the French champions said to be holding out for £50m.

And Galtier claims he is keeping abreast of the speculation and while he shared a laugh with the defender, he refused to rule out a transfer materialising.

"I've read everything that has been said about Kimpembe," Galtier said. "We even laughed about it together!"

He added: "I like him - he's a great centre-back but what will happen, I don't know."

PSG sign Ekitike

PSG have announced the capture of Hugo Ekitike signing from Reims, despite Newcastle lodging an offer worth more than the French champions.

The Magpies had identified the 20-year-old as one of Eddie Howe's transfer priorities, but were unwilling to pay the agent fee required to broker the deal.

Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot confirmed Newcastle's offer was the more substantial one:"We didn't quite reach the sum offered by Newcastle but Hugo Ekitike has always been respectful towards the club," Caillot confirmed to l'Union. "We are happy to allow him to fulfil his dream."

Man Utd linked with Ziyech

The possibility of Ten Hag reuniting with Hakim Ziyech has now emerged. Ziyech looks destined to leave Stamford Bridge, with AC Milan said to be interesting in signing the winger.

However, if that saga becomes a prolonged one, a move to United shouldn't be completely ruled out, Football.London report.

Ten Hag worked with Ziyech at Ajax and helped them to the Champions League semi-final during the 2018/19 season.

And now Nagelsmann has told Bild reporter Christian Falk: "I read that too [Ronaldo links], but that's not true."

Morata to stay at Atleti

Alvaro Morata, who had been linked with Arsenal earlier this summer, will be staying with Atletico Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

AS claim that the chances of him remaining at the Wanda Metropolitano stand at 99 per cent after impressing Diego Simeone and his coaching staff during pre-season.

The report adds that Morata has sold his home in Italy and isn't intending on returning to Juventus, where he was on loan last season.

Bayern Munich have officially announced the departure of Robert Lewandowski, with the striker now due to join Barcelona.

In a statement released by the German giants, it is claimed all parties have now reached an agreement ahead of his move to the Camp Nou.

We know very well what we have to thank Robert for, but great players have also left FC Bayern in the past, and even after that, Bayern's world did not fall apart.
