The Tricky Trees had reportedly shaken hands with Arsenal over a £30m move for Nketiah, but they could not agree personal terms with the 25-year-old, leading to the deal falling through.
Instead, journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Nuno Espirito Santo's side are now back in for Feyenoord striker Gimenez, whom they have now launched a third official bid for.
Forest have already failed with two approaches for the Mexico international and have now offered £28m to Feyenoord, which would represent the Dutch club's all-time record sale.
Gimenez is reportedly open to moving to the City Ground, but a transfer will hinge on whether the two clubs can find an agreement for the 23-year-old, who has been linked to some of Europe's top clubs.
Gimenez has scored 53 goals and set up 13 more in 90 competitive matches for Feyenoord, including four goals from as many matches in the 2024-25 campaign so far.
Liverpool midfielder wanted by five La Liga clubs?
Regarding potential Premier League departures, Liverpool youngster Stefan Bajcetic is reportedly the subject of interest from as many as five La Liga clubs ahead of an expected loan exit.
The 19-year-old is considered to be a player with enormous potential by Anfield chiefs, but his development was hampered by injury last season, where he made just three appearances for the senior side.
Even though Liverpool have been trying to improve their defensive midfield ranks this summer, they are apparently happy to loan out Bajcetic, who has not made either of their Premier League matchday squads so far this season.
According to La Voz de Galicia, all of Real Sociedad, Villarreal, Valencia, Las Palmas and Celta Vigo hold an interest in Bajcetic, as do two unspecified Premier League clubs.
Celta boss Claudio Giraldez confirmed that his side are looking at a deal for Bajcetic, telling the press: "The market is open, and he's one more possibility. He is a player that I know, who knows the club, that we have trained, and he is one more possibility."
Bajcetic came through the Celta Vigo youth academy before joining Liverpool in 2021, and the midfielder has scored once in 22 senior appearances for the Merseyside giants.
Memphis Depay offered Ligue 1 return?
Over in France, former Lyon striker Memphis Depay could reportedly be set for a return to Ligue 1, as Nice are supposedly interested in signing the 30-year-old as a free agent.
Depay is currently without a club after leaving Atletico Madrid at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, prior to which he represented the likes of Lyon, Barcelona and Manchester United.
The Netherlands international excelled during his time in Ligue 1, scoring 76 goals and providing 55 assists in 178 games for Lyon, and L'Equipe claims that he is on Nice's attacking shortlist.
Les Aiglons are in the midst of an attacking injury crisis, as Terem Moffi could sit out the majority of the season with an ACL injury, while Gaetan Laborde is out until at least October with a foot fracture.
Depay is reportedly doing individual training in Monaco, but the 30-year-old's significant salary demands mean that a switch to the Allianz Riviera is unlikely to materialise.
Instead, Nice could target another high-profile free agent in Wissam Ben Yedder, who left Monaco earlier this summer, or former Lille attacker Yusuf Yazici.
Atletico youngster 'wanted by three clubs on loan'
From a former Atletico star to a current Diego Simeone protege, and 19-year-old midfielder Arthur Vermeeren is supposedly on the radar of three clubs ahead of an expected loan transfer.
The Belgium international rose to fame with Royal Antwerp last season, apparently catching the eye of Arsenal, Barcelona and Manchester United before joining Atletico in a £15.3m deal in January.
Vermeeren made just five La Liga appearances in his first half-season in the Spanish capital, though, and he was not in the Rojiblancos squad for Sunday's 3-0 triumph over Girona.
According to Romano, the teenager was missing from the matchday ranks as he is expected to depart on loan in the coming days, and a trio of revered European teams are pushing for his signature.
Bundesliga duo RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen are apparently pursuing a deal, as are French giants Marseille, but Vermeeren has not made a decision on his next destination yet.
The 19-year-old is under contract with Atletico until 2030 and was part of Belgium's Euro 2024 squad, although he did not play any minutes at the competition.
