Lingard can decide Man Utd future
Ralf Rangnick says Jesse Lingard is in control of his own destiny during this month's transfer window.
Lingard, who is out of contract at the end of this season, is wanted on loan by Newcastle for the rest of the season.
United would prefer a permanent deal and are unlikely to sanction a loan deal for Lingard, given the uncertainty with regard to Covid and potential injuries leaving them short of personnel.
Lingard, 29, is understood to want to run his contract down and assess his options at the end of the season, when he will have his pick of several clubs interested in signing him, including West Ham and Tottenham.

"I know he loves Stevie as well, so probably he wants to work with him."

Kane's transfer warning
Harry Kane claims Tottenham are at risk of "falling behind the pack" unless they match the ambition of their Premier League rivals.
The Spurs striker said: "Players come and go and sometimes it disrupts the team a little bit. Coaches come and go and it takes time to adapt.
"The fact is, in the Premier League especially, so many teams are so good and everyone's building to try and break into that top six. There's a good eight or nine teams who are fighting for those places.
"If you don't get one or two things right then you can really fall behind the pack and that's kind of happened to us.
"So we need to be careful that we don't keep falling.
"But we're feeling confident that we can do that, especially since the manager's come in."

Brentford "always in market" amid Eriksen link
Thomas Frank claims he is happy with his Brentford squad but left the door open to new arrivals amid the club's link with Christian Eriksen.
The Bees offered Eriksen a six-month contract earlier this week as the Danish playmaker looks to make a stunning return to action.
"I think we have a strong enough squad to compete in the Premier League," Frank said.
"I do think a player or two would bring extra energy to the squad but I don't think it's essential. But we are always in the market and if a player comes up we will do it.
"I think it can be more difficult [in January] depending on where players are coming from."

"Right now I wouldn't change my job here at Roma with another one," Mourinho said after his team beat Lecce in the Coppa Italia on Thursday night.
"I gave my world to Roma for three years and I feel this is my project."
