mirror.co.uk, 19 December 2022, 06:00
The January transfer window is looming and Premier League giants Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs plotting their next moves as Cristiano Ronaldo searches for a new club Alejandro Garnacho is being chased by Chelsea

The Premier League is not far off returning around the festive period following the mid-season break for the World Cup - and the January transfer window won't be far behind.

The World Cup has left an indelible impression, with Argentina taking their third trophy home, but it also acted as a shop window for several stars. The Netherlands' Cody Gakpo, Morocco's Sofyan Ambrabat and Brighton's Alexis Mac Allister are among those linked with moves off the back of a strong tournament.

Arsenal are on the lookout for a new striker following the injury to Gabriel Jesus. Manchester United could try to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who saw his contract terminated by mutual consent last month. Chelsea are showing no signs of slowing down following the Todd Boehly takeover. Liverpool are eyeing midfield reinforcements.

Isco ready to move

Isco will soon be a free agent, meaning a long-touted move to the Premier League could finally be on the cards.

According to Marca, Sevilla are preparing to terminate his contract just four months into a two-year deal after Isco fell out with sporting director Monchi, who only signed him for former manager Julen Lopetegui.

Lopetegui now manages Wolves, who therefore look like a potential destination, while Tottenham and Arsenal have both also been linked with the 30-year-old midfielder.

One to keep an eye on.

Kvaratskhelia not for sale

Napoli will not sell winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia under any circumstances in January amid strong interest from a number of top European clubs.

The Georgian international has become one of the stars of the season across Europe following eight goals and 10 assists in 17 games across all competitions, with plenty of sides, such as Liverpool, being linked with a January transfer despite the 21-year-old only arriving in Naples during the summer.

But Napoli chief Cristiano Giuntoli told Sport Express that under no circumstance would they let him go next month. He said: "No, there's no chance we will let him go. It doesn't depend on the fee or on the proposal; he will just stay with us."
