Tottenham facing injury dilemma with two first-team stars getting World Cup knocks

Tottenham are facing a double injury dilemma with Ben Davies and Rodrigo Bentancur sustaining knocks while on World Cup duty.

Davies has spent the last few weeks in Qatar with the Welsh national team where he featured in all three group stage matches before being replaced just before the hour-mark in the 3-0 defeat to England.

With Wales out of the competition, the 29-year-old is looking forward to getting back into domestic action with Spurs, however his return may be delayed due to injury.

Football London have reported that Davies has suffered a painful stomach muscle injury after damaging his oblique.

With a four-week recovery time it means that a return for the Boxing Day clash with Brentford could be a push.

Tottenham may also be without Bentancur for a spell.

The Uruguay midfielder suffered an abductor tear in their group stage clash with Ghana, being forced off in the 33rd minute of the match.

With Bentancur also facing around a month on the sidelines, it means that Conte could have some tough decisions to make as he looks towards the festive schedule.

Bentancur will be suspended for the clash with the Bees anyway, but will now be looking to be fit for the fixture with Aston Villa in New Years Day.
