The 22-year-old joined the north Londoners on transfer deadline day, signing a five-year contract in a £25million deal.
Nuno Espirito Santo has been determined to strengthen the Spurs defence and the deal to bring the right-back to the club will no doubt have gone down well with supporters, particularly give that he reportedly turned down a move to join London rivals Arsenal in the process.
Here are five things that you should know about him..
The loyal Brazilian
Emerson started his career in Brazil by partaking in numerous academy programs before joining Ponte Preta for two seasons.
He left his boyhood club to play for Atletico Mineiro where he made 23 appearances and scored one goal.
Experienced international
Emerson was called up to the Brazil Under 20 team for the 2017 Toulon Tournament.
He was the first-choice right-back at the 2019 South American Under 20 Championship and the 2019 Toulon Tournament, having won the latter with Brazil's Under 23 side.
Emerson is now a fully-fledged Brazilian international with four senior caps and was part of the squad that reached the Copa America final earlier this summer.
The Spanish starlet
In 2019, Barcelona signed the then 20-year old but the right-back was immediately sent on loan to Real Betis where he made a total of 79 appearances for the club.
After two seasons, Barcelona exercised their option to bring the player back and he has since made three appearances for the Catalan giants.
The force
Emerson plays an aggressive and attacking brand of football and should bring real creativity from the right-back position.
Originally a striker, he was moved into defensive midfield by a coach at the age of 11 before moving him again into the role of full-back where he has stayed ever since.
The grinner
As well as bringing charisma onto the pitch, Emerson is renowned for his smiling face and his happy demeanour.
"I don't like boring people" he says. "We Brazilians have an identity, we like to be with other people, talking and smiling. I'm happy. My family is always laughing."
Tottenham fans will surely be hoping that the new signing can give them something to smile about as well!
