Fernando Torres greeted Liverpool players in the tunnel after the Reds' hard-fought win at Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.
Jurgen Klopp's side battled to a 3-2 victory over the Spanish side at the Wanda Metropolitano to keep up their 100 per cent record in the Champions League this term.
Mohamed Salah grabbed two goals, including the winner from the spot, to please the travelling fans.
One man who has split allegiances on the night is Torres due to his spells at both clubs.
The striker, nicknamed El Nino, came through the ranks in Madrid and left to join Liverpool for £20m in 2007.
He eventually returned and played under Diego Simeone for a period before retiring in 2019.
He now coaches Atletico's Under-19 team, but reserved some time for the current crop of Liverpool stars after full-time in midweek.

In a video posted by Liverpool's official accounts, Torres can be seen speaking to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota.
The former Red, who scored 81 times for the Merseyside outfit, confessed his love for the club back in 2019.
"I'm really proud to say I will support Liverpool forever, it doesn't matter what happened," he told Liverpool's website.
"Even when things between us were not at their best, I felt that I needed to support Liverpool.
"The city, fans and club will always be in my heart because it's the way I feel and I cannot change that.
The Spaniard, regarded as one of the finest strikers during his time at Liverpool, admits he was at his peak whilst in England.
He continued: "No doubt, it was my peak as a player. I did enjoy probably my best years playing football with a Liverpool shirt, especially playing in a side with all my teammates, but especially Steven Gerrard.
"The memories will last forever. I can remember every goal and every game I played here, and every goal I scored. And the feeling of playing at Anfield in front of the Kop and the Liverpool supporters.

Torres left Liverpool for Chelsea in January 2011 for a then-British-record £50m, although he struggled to produce at Stamford Bridge and was eventually moved on.
The striker was unable to win a single honour at Anfield but whilst at the Blues, despite his own personal struggles, did claim the FA Cup and the Champions League in 2012.
