Toni Kroos brutally snubs Ronaldo as he names all-time best Real Madrid players

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has controversially decided not to include his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo among his best players ever to play for the Spanish giants

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has brutally overlooked Cristiano Ronaldo to be among the club's all-time best players.

The German international was asked to name his ideal five-a-side team comprised of club legends but Ronaldo - with whom he played alongside for four seasons and who passed the 800-goal career landmark on Thursday - did not make the list.

Only one of the midfielder's former teammates was included in the side; goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who left Los Blancos in 2015, a year after the arrival of Kroos.

Kroos did include his former Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane in the line-up alongside the Frenchman's legendary former teammates Roberto Carlos and Raul Gonzalez.

It was the inclusion of Raul at the expense of Ronaldo which may raise a few eyebrows among the selections from Kroos.

The Portuguese superstar is the all-time record goal scorer in Real Madrid 's history, boasting a barely believable 450 goals in just 438 matches for the Spanish giants.

That figure obliterated Raul's long-standing record at the club, which had seen him as the previous top scorer in their history with 323 strikes in 741 outings.

Explaining his selections, Kroos said as per Marca : "My Epic Five will obviously have a goalkeeper, then a 1-2-1 formation - it is very important for me to have two midfielders.

"My goalkeeper is Iker Casillas, I have to choose him, I have not known any other Real Madrid goalkeeper like him since I was born.

"I have to choose Iker and I had the pleasure of playing with him for a bit and he was a very special goalkeeper.

"My first choice for the defence is Roberto Carlos; a defender who was a lot more than just a defender.

"He scored a lot of goals with his amazing left foot and he is also a great guy who sometimes travels with us and the team, so I think that I know him a bit now.

"Like all Brazilian guys, he has a great personality and he is also in great shape - an absolute legend.

"Then I choose Uli Stielike - I have a lot of respect for him for playing so many games with Real Madrid, it was incredible and he is my choice.

"The next one is, of course, Zinedine Zidane - not only someone who I was fortunate to have as a great coach for a couple of years but as a player he was an idol.

"The way he played was always great to watch - no doubt that Zizou has to be in this squad.

"Next is Raul - a player that I was always watching as he is a joy to watch.

"I always had the feeling that he was a great mentality player that gave everything and that he was a great captain.

"And as I know today, when I have the pleasure of occasionally seeing him, he is a great guy and a role model on how to be a superstar.

"Raul has to be the striker."

Kroos has made 332 appearances for Real Madrid since joining from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window in 2014.

The midfielder has won 13 trophies in the Spanish capital and has won 23 across the entirety of his career, including four Champions League crowns and the World Cup.
