Thomas Müller tops Bundesliga assists charts for third time in four seasons

Müller produced 18 assists in his 32 appearances across the 34-match campaign. The 32-year-old also led the way for assists in 2020/21 (18), 2019/20 (a Bundesliga record 21) and 2017/18 (16).

The 32-year-old took his tally to 18 for the season by teeing up teammate Robert Lewandowski - who finished as Bundesliga top scorer for the fifth year in a row and seventh time overall in the process - for his side's second goal in their eventual 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg on the final day of the season.

Müller is the first player to top the Bundesliga's assist charts for three seasons running. His longest creative streak spanned seven fixtures between Matchdays 8-14.

It was during that run that he produced a hat-trick of single-game assists for the third time in his career, in a 5-2 win at Union Berlin. The Germany international only went more than three games without setting up a teammate once.

All told, Müller - who recently penned a contract extension to stay at Bayern through to summer 2024 - has registered 186 goals, as well as 137 goals, in 413 Bundesliga appearances.

It's a tally that equates to a direct goal involvement every 1.28 games since the Bavarian native made his competitive debut for his boyhood club in 2008. No player has produced more assists since 2010.
