The 74-time Ukrainian international Andriy Voronin spoke about his fears regarding his country amid the current war, with a bleak outlook.
The former Liverpool striker, who once played under Jurgen Klopp at Mainz, is hoping that the war will end as he feels that entire cities could be destroyed if it continues for much longer.
"I really hope so. It would mean that death would stop," he told BamS. "I can't and don't want to imagine [the war] going on for years.
"In two or three months, all our cities could look like Mariupol now, extinct. But I know that my country, my people, will never give up."
Voronin doesn't rule out Vladimir Putin using nuclear weapons.
"What should I say? Two months ago I did not believe that Russia would really attack my country in such a way, after the experience in Crimea and Donbas. But it happened," he said.
"That's why I cannot rule out that Putin might even use chemical or nuclear weapons. I don't know if he will stop, whether Ukraine is enough for him or whether he will also bring war to Germany."
