Devin Plank of Excelsior Maassluis is undergoing chemotherapy for fibular cancer

During a round of 16 game in the KNVB Beker, players from both Excelsior and champions Ajax came together in support of a fellow colleague.

David Plank, 20, plays for Excelsior and is currently receiving chemotherapy for fibular cancer.

With Ajax cruising at 9-0 to the good, Plank was subbed on by Excelsior and every single player on the field, for both the home and away side, stopped to create a guard of honour as he entered the field of play.

The crushing result aside, it was wonderful to see things bigger than the game garner the attention they deserve and Plank will have surely been touched by the Ajax reception.
