The 2022 Free Agent market situation: Deals, meetings, announcements...

marca.com, 16 May 2022, 21:41
Which players' contracts are coming to an end

There are several world-class players whose current deals run until July and their futures are still up in the air, whether they are close to renewing their contracts or parting ways with the clubs.

Kylian Mbappe, Paul Pogba, Paulo Dybala, Franck Kessie, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are the most valuable in the list of those players, according to Transfermarkt, but there are several others who could opt for a change of scenery in the summer.

Let's take a closer look at the stars whose contracts are coming to an end in the summer.

Kylian Mbappe

As MARCA has reported, Real Madrid have reached an agreement to land the France international in the summer. Mbappe has turned down several contract renewal offers from PSG.

Paul Pogba

Aged 29, Pogba will leave Manchester United, with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus being the main suitors for his signature after a below-par second spell at the Red Devils.

Returning to Juventus could be a more sensible move, as that's where he managed to shine in the past, but PSG offer better salary.

Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen

AS MARCA has revealed, both players will sign for Barcelona in the summer unless there is a last-minute surprise.

Paulo Dybala

After Juventus' defeat in the Coppa Italia final, the Old Lady managed to qualify for next season's Champions League group stage. On Sunday, Dybala confirmed that he is parting ways with the Serie A side.

Antonio Rudiger

MARCA confirmed on May 10 that the Chelsea centre-back will depart London to join Real Madrid ahead of the 2022/23 season. His signing will be made official after the Champions League final.

Ousmane Dembele

Talks between his agent and Barcelona are ongoing, but there's no significant progress for the time being. Xavi Hernandez counts on him and the Frenchman is happy in Catalonia.

Luka Modric

As MARCA published back in March, there is no deal between Modric and Real Madrid but both parties are willing to see the Croatia international dressed in white next season.

Luis Suarez

After bidding farewell to Atletico Madrid fans in the game against Sevilla on Sunday, Suarez is now looking for a new destination. He has attracted interest from a few Italian clubs, as well as Premier League teams such as Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa.

Angel Di Maria

The Argentina international is expected to depart PSG and Juventus are considered as the main favourites to sign him in the summer. PSG could trigger a clause that would see him stay put, but they don't seem to be willing to do so.

Christian Eriksen

His six-month deal with Brentford comes to an end on June 30 and the Denmark international has been linked with a possible return to Tottenham Hotspur.

"I would love to play Champions League football again," he said on Monday.

"I know how much fun it is, but it isn't essential for me."

Noussair Mazraoui

Bayern Munich have confirmed that they will sign the Ajax full-back as a free agent in the summer.

Italian frontline: Andrea Belotti, Alessio Romagnoli, Luiz Felipe or Federico Bernardeschi

It is doubtful whether the former will renew his contract with Torino, although it seems that he doesn't have as many offers as he may have expected.

Romangoli, who was linked to both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, finds himself at a crossroads. He turned down AC Milan's contract renewal offer, while Lazio are interested in him but they have not presented a convincing offer.

As MARCA has already confirmed, Lazio centre-back Luis Felipe will join Real Betis. Meanwhile, Bernardeschi is expected to depart Juventus and try his luck elsewhere.

Other players

The contracts of Marseille's Boubacar Kamara, Manchester United's Jesse Lingard, Burnley's James Tarkowski, Lyon's Jason Denayer and Bayern Munich's Corentin Tolisso are also running until July.

Meanwhile, Andre Onana will leave Ajax for Inter, Divock Origi will join AC Milan and Henrikh Mkhitaryan is expected to move to Roma. Ivan Perisic's future is up in the air, although Inter want to renew his contract and he wants to stay.
