Few would have expected the England international to be the success story he has been since his move to Italy, and the 24-year-old has now made history.
Abraham came through the youth ranks with Chelsea before going on to score 30 goals in 82 appearances for the club.
However, with the arrival Romelu Lukaku last summer, the striker found his career at something of a crossroads.
Abraham was handed a career lifeline in the shape of a £34million move to Roma last summer where he'd link up with ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, and it's safe to say he hasn't looked back.
Since moving to the Italian capital, Abraham has found the back of the net on 27 occasions across all competitions.
But it's his form in Serie A that has really caught the eye.
The Three Lions star scored twice as Roma concluded their season with a 3-0 victory over Torino to secure a Europa League spot.
That brace took Abrahams' tally to 17 Serie A goals this term - making him the leading English scorer ever in the Italian top flight.
The previous record was set by Gerry Hitchens, who ended the campaign on 16 goals for Inter Milan in 1961/62.
Speaking of his form after the game, Abraham said: "It's been a good year for me.
"I hope to build on this year and hopefully we can finish with a trophy and it can be the perfect year."
Of course he's talking about the Europa Conference League against Feyenoord, where Abraham can help Mourinho's side to a major trophy this term.
In addition to finishing the season with a spot in Europe confirmed, Abraham can be delighted with his first campaign in Italy and will be hoping that there's plenty more to come in the way of goals and success.
And who knows - like Lukaku - perhaps a Premier League return will soon be on the cards.
