Sunday's Primeira Liga predictions including Estoril vs. Benfica

Rio Ave vs. Boavista (Sunday, 3.30pm)

Boavista will be looking to snap their run of five consecutive games without a win across all competitions when they journey to the Estadio dos Arcos to square off against Rio Ave on Sunday.

The Vilacondenses head into the weekend unbeaten in seven consecutive games against the visitors and will be looking to keep the juggernaut rolling.

Sunday's game sees two evenly-matched sides go head to head and we anticipate a cagey affair at the Estadio dos Arcos. However, looking at past results between the sides and Rio Ave's recent home form, we are backing the newcomers to claim a slender victory in this one and extend their unbeaten run against Boavista.

Maritimo vs. Famalicao (Sunday, 6.00pm)

Fresh off the back of picking up their first win of the 2022-23 campaign, Maritimo play host to Famalicao at the Estadio do Maritimo in round 12 of the Primeira Liga on Sunday.

The Vila Nova head into the weekend unbeaten in seven consecutive games against the hosts and will look to continue in the same vein.

We say: Maritimo 1-1 Famalicao

Having just secured their first win of the season, Maritimo will head into the weekend with sky-high confidence as they begin their surge from the relegation zone. However, we predict the spoils will be shared in this one as they are currently evenly matched with Famalicao.

Braga vs. Casa Pia (Sunday, 6.00pm)

Still licking their wounds from their Europa League exit, Braga play host to Casa Pia at the Estadio Braga Municipal in round 12 of the Primeira Liga on Sunday.

The newly-promoted side, on the other hand, snapped their run of two consecutive league defeats last time out and will head into the weekend seeking to build on that result.

We say: Braga 3-1 Casa Pia

Having kicked off their top-flight campaign on a fine note, Casa Pia find themselves in the upper echelons of the table and in the mix for a place in Europe. However, they face a significantly superior and more experienced Braga side who will be looking to make an immediate positive reaction following their Europa League exit. We predict an action-packed contest on Sunday with Braga coming out victorious.

Estoril vs. Benfica (Sunday, 8.30pm)

Fresh off the back of a 6-1 thrashing of Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League, Benfica visit the Estadio Antonio Coimbra da Mota to take on Estoril Praia in round 12 of the Primeira Liga on Sunday.

The Canarinhos, on the other hand, will head into the weekend desperate to get one over the visitors, having failed to win any of the last 19 meetings between the sides since January 2013.

We say: Estoril Praia 0-3 Benfica

Benfica head into the weekend as one of the most in-form sides in the division and will be backing themselves against an Estoril Praia side who have struggled for results on home turf. Looking at past results between the sides, we are tipping Schmidt's side to claim a comfortable victory.
