The Vilacondenses head into the weekend as the only top-flight side without an away win across all competitions this season and will be looking to end this poor run.

Buoyed by Monday's victory over Boavista, Rio Ave will head into the weekend with renewed belief they look to put together a fine run of form. While Gil Vicente have struggled for consistency this season, their form at home this season gives them a slight upper hand and we fancy them claiming a narrow victory this weekend.

Boavista vs. Farense (Sunday, 3.30pm)

Boavista will be seeking to end their five-game winless run in the Primeira Liga when they welcome Farense to the Estadio do Bessa on Sunday.

The Leoes de Faro, who are unbeaten in their last three league outings, will look to pick up a third consecutive victory over the home side and move into the top half of the standings.

After a slow start to their return to the top flight, Farense appear to have hit their stride in the last few weeks and will be looking to make it three league wins on the trot. In stark contrast, Boavista are on a free-fall after kicking off the season in fine fashion and we see them dropping more points this weekend.

Benfica vs. Sporting Lisbon (Sunday, 8.30pm)

The first Derby de Lisboa of the 2023-24 Primeira Liga season will be played out this week as Benfica prepare to take on rivals Sporting Lisbon at Estadio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica on Sunday evening.

The stage is set for an incredible matchup between the two sides that have started the season better than the rest, and with both teams on an identical goal difference and separated by just three points, the victors here will go into the international break in pole position.

We say: Benfica 1-2 Sporting Lisbon

Benfica will have the opportunity to head into the international break in first place in the Primeira Liga with a win in this match; however, that will mean they need to hand Sporting their first league defeat of the season. The hosts will also have to contend with the short turnaround time, having travelled to Spain in midweek, while also dealing with a fairly lengthy injury list that features a few key players.

Based on those reasons, the visitors may just have a slight advantage despite playing on enemy territory, and we feel they can pull off a narrow victory in this one.
