Sunday's La Liga predictions including Cadiz vs. Real Madrid

Villarreal vs. Real Sociedad (Sunday, 6.30pm)

The battle for sixth place in the La Liga table will heat up on Sunday, as Villarreal welcome Real Sociedad to the Estadio de la Ceramica.

With two games left to play, the visitors currently hold sixth spot with a three-point lead over their opponents, meaning a win would guarantee them a place in European competition next season.

We say: Villarreal 1-1 Real Sociedad

With so much on the line on Sunday, we predict a tight encounter and see a share of the spoils as the most likely outcome.

While the hosts desperately need a win in their pursuit of European qualification, the losses of Danjuma and Moreno could hit them hard against a stronger defence, and we do not see them putting La Real to the sword with a makeshift front line.

Levante vs. Alaves (Sunday, 6.30pm)

A clash between two teams rock bottom of La Liga takes place on Sunday, when Alaves travel to the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia, where they will face 20th-placed Levante.

Currently sitting six points behind 17th spot, Levante's relegation from the Spanish top flight has all but been confirmed, while Alaves sit four points adrift of safety with two games to play.

We say: Levante 0-1 Alaves

Despite Alaves poor away record this season, Sunday presents an opportunity to build on their positive win against Espanyol and the visitors are likely to be more driven to three points, as Levante are all but relegated.

It is likely to be a low-scoring affair given the sides' record in the final third, but Levante will be down after a heavy defeat in midweek, which is in contrast to Alaves.

Cadiz vs. Real Madrid (Sunday, 6.30pm)

Cadiz will be bidding to give their La Liga survival hopes a huge boost when they welcome the champions Real Madrid to Nuevo Mirandilla on Sunday evening.

The home side are currently 17th in the table, two points clear of 18th-placed Mallorca, while Real Madrid, who thumped Levante 6-0 on Thursday, secured the title at the end of April.

We say: Cadiz 1-2 Real Madrid

This is a much bigger match for Cadiz than it is for Real Madrid, but it is difficult to back against the visitors, especially considering their performance against Levante on Thursday. Cadiz will be motivated to secure a positive result, but we believe that Los Blancos will claim all three points this weekend.

Getafe vs. Barcelona (Sunday, 6.30pm)

Barcelona will be looking to secure second position in the La Liga table when they make the trip to Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Sunday evening to take on Getafe.

The Catalan giants are currently second, five points ahead of third-placed Atletico Madrid, while Getafe sit 15th, five points ahead of the relegation zone with two games left to play.

We say: Getafe 1-2 Barcelona

Getafe are more than capable of making this a tricky match for Barcelona, who have big defensive problems ahead of the contest. The Catalan outfit are on a bit of a roll at the moment, though, and we believe that their quality in the final third of the field will allow them to secure all three points on Sunday.

Mallorca vs. Rayo Vallecano (Sunday, 6.30pm)

Now with just two games left to escape the bottom three of the La Liga table, Mallorca will head into Sunday's contest against Rayo Vallecano with a desperate need for a victory.

The hosts held Sevilla to a draw last time out but remain two points adrift of safety in 18th spot.

We say: Mallorca 2-1 Rayo Vallecano

With a tough trip to Osasuna looming on the final day, Mallorca should see Sunday's game as an absolute must-win, and we fancy them to outfight a Rayo Vallecano team who have less to play for in comparison and will be wounded from a thrashing last time out.

Celta Vigo vs. Elche (Sunday, 6.30pm)

Celta Vigo will continue their pursuit of a place in the top half of the La Liga table on Saturday, when they entertain Elche.

The hosts find themselves one point behind 10th-placed Valencia with two games to go, while their visitors need a maximum of one point to confirm their survival.

We say: Celta Vigo 2-0 Elche

Perhaps now playing comfortably knowing their top-flight status is virtually secured, Elche have looked slightly off the pace in recent weeks, and we see them being outclassed by the hosts on Saturday as a result.

Real Betis vs. Granada (Sunday, 6.30pm)

Real Betis head into Sunday's La Liga fixture with Granada requiring a victory to potentially keep them in the hunt for Champions League qualification.

While Betis are looking to secure a place at European football's top table for next season, Granada need one win from their closing double-header to retain their top-flight status.

We say: Real Betis 2-2 Granada

At one stage this season, a home victory would have been considered to be a formality, but that is certainly no longer the case. With more pressure arguably on Betis' shoulders now, we expect Granada to claim a score draw in what could turn out to be an entertaining tussle.

Atletico vs. Sevilla (Sunday, 6.30pm)

Third will take on fourth in La Liga on Sunday evening, as Atletico Madrid welcome Sevilla to Wanda Metropolitano, with the visitors not yet certain of a spot in the top four.

Atletico are guaranteed a spot in the Champions League positions ahead of their final two matches, but Sevilla have work to do if they are to be present in next season's European Cup.

We say: Atletico Madrid 1-1 Sevilla

Sevilla only need a point on Sunday to ensure that they claim a top-four spot, and we are expecting the visitors to pick up the result that they require. Lopetegui's side have only lost three times on their travels this season, sharing the points on nine occasions, and we are backing a low-scoring draw here.

Athletic Bilbao vs. Osasuna (Sunday, 6.30pm)

Athletic Bilbao play host to Osasuna on Sunday evening knowing that only victory will do if they want to retain hope of finishing in the top seven of the La Liga standings.

While the visitors sit directly below their hosts in ninth position, they also require a win to make up further ground before the end of the season.

We say: Athletic Bilbao 2-1 Osasuna

Neither team can claim to be in their best form heading into their closing double-header, something which could make for a match mixed with quality and errors. Nevertheless, we feel that home advantage will prove key for Athletic, leading up to predict a narrow victory.
